In the documentary “Los Sueños que Compartimos (Eng. The dreams we share)" and through conversations with activists who have been to Chiapas (Mexico) and Lützerath (Germany), we delve into the shared dreams of the Zapatistas and various European activists for a good life for all. The film follows the delegation trip of the indigenous Zapatistas from Mexico to Europe (GIRA). Building on this, it traces the connections between more than ten different sites and communities engaged in resistance. These include, among others, the forest and village occupations in the Hambach Forest and in Lützerath in the Rhineland lignite mining region. As a preview of the screening, we invite you to a discussion with people who were in Lützerath and helped organize the GIRA’s visit to Germany in 2021. Whether you’ve never heard of these movements before or would like to hear a different perspective on them, we look forward to seeing you and to the discussion afterward!
The event will be conducted in German; please let us know in advance if you need a (whispered) translation into another language. The film will be shown in Spanish with German subtitles. We are asking for a solidarity contribution of 5 to 9 €. If you are unable to afford the solidarity contribution, please feel free to email us at pg-kino@freiraumjenaev.de and we will find a solution.
